But it WAS a tough weekend for sports. First Louisville gets knocked out of the Final 4, then FC Rogue loses our first match, and to cap it off the Yankmees beat the Red Sox in the season opener.
So, about the FC Rogue match. We lost our first game of the season 2-1. Very disappointing, considering our opponent, the Orlando Blackhawks, knew that they were outclassed and outplayed. We put it to them all game…I had a personally frustrating day as I worked tirelessly to get into position to score goals, and came up clanging the inside of the post on one occasion (a beautiful cross from Ian), and pinging the cross-bar from 20 yards on a chip over the keeper (a nice drop-off from Scott Ewing). Ya know, I could beat myself up over it, and I would if I felt that I misplayed the balls. In both cases (more the second), I hit the ball pretty damn solid….luck just wasn’t on the side of Scott Roy or FC Rogue. I did get a nice assist on our first goal, after I picked out Alec Miller for a header. That one felt good because the two of us have been on the brink of that precise play for two friggin seasons. We got one Alec…nice! To read about the game, click here
Saturday night was a good time at RJ Gators watching the Final Four. Aside from me crying in my beer over the poor Cards, I had a good time with Zoo, Mike, Dane, Rachel, and later the girls. On Sunday, Megan, Scott (Zoolander), Erin, Amy, and I went to Seaworld.
