Charlie Davies Crash Photos (more coming soon)

A Phoenix, Md. family is grieving after a young woman in the prime of her life is killed in a car accident on the George Washington Parkway.

Ashely Roberta (picture), 22, died early Tuesday morning when the SUV she was riding in crashed on the GW Parkway in Virginia. Also in the accident was Charlie Davies of the USMNT.

The accident was so brutal, it ripped the SUV into two pieces, and it took two tow trucks to haul the wreckage away.

It's heartbreaking news for her family, including her younger brother 18-year-old Michael Roberta.

"I can't believe it still. She's a great girl. She really was a great girl," said Michael.

Ashley was a recent graduate of the University of Maryland who planned on attending law school in Baltimore.

She graduated from Mercy High School and still has many friends in the Baltimore area.

"She was real confident, you know. Every job she ever went for, she always got it. She had a bunch of friends, she was hilarious, she's beautiful. She's just a beautiful girl," said Michael.

Another passenger in the SUV was U.S. national team soccer star Charlie Davis. He was in the Washington, D.C. area in anticipation of Wednesday night's World Cup qualifying match against Costa Rica.

He suffered severe injuries and underwent six hours of surgery and is listed in serious but stable condition.

The driver, another young woman, was also rushed to the hospital. There's no word on her condition.

Police are still investigating the cause of the single-vehicle crash.

Soccer officials say Davies was in violation of a team curfew when the accident happened at about three o'clock Tuesday morning.
